Priorities
Posted on November 25th, 2007 | by dzoi |When all the mothers I know are talking about neglecting their kids because of paid blogging, I on the other hand have forgotten about my real job. Just last week, my boss sent me two new domains with an instruction to design two mockups for each. Three days have passed and I’m still staring at a blank workspace in Photoshop. I don’t have any ideas, whether good or bad. I don’t know where to start. I’ve completely forgotten how to design a website.
I’ve been doing this for more than six years so this should come naturally. However, since getting busy with other quick means to earn money on the Internet, I keep on forgetting to attend to my design tasks. In order to succeed in this business, I should be focused, always updated with the latest technology and design styles and continuously learning new tricks. I haven’t opened a single tutorial for the last couple of months, let alone learn a new code or practice my skills. I totally neglected my main source of income because I was so bent on earning big bucks from the Internet.
I became greedy that’s what happened. It’s not just about earning more money, though it’s the primary reason. It became a contest for me who gets to grab the most number of paid tasks, who gets the highest pagerank, or the most number of hits a day. While I try my best to increase my main blog’s popularity, I have forgotten what I’m supposed to be doing online.
I should be DESIGNING. I should be trying harder to get better so I can be skilled enough to compete with younger designers who are emerging these days. I’m getting paid a lot and the payments from all the paid blogging companies combined will not be able match what I’m getting. Well, maybe if my PRs reach 5 or I have four to five blogs. But paid blogging won’t be here for long especially now that the big G is planning to remove blogs doing it from their databases. I should be doing my best on my job in order to keep it. Aside from the fact that it pays well, I just love web design and nothing beats getting paid doing what you really love.

Aha! Dito pala ang bago mong lungga. hehehe.
Ok din yung mga realizations mo. I sometimes feel that i neglect my work here in the office bec of paid blogging. Kaya set ako ng limits.

Hi. Tama ka, we should know our priorities, and keep those at the top of our list. Yung iba, isisingit na lang.
I’ve added this new blog of yours na pala to my blog list.
