Web Designer Search

Freelancing as a webdesigner is very hard considering how many new web designers are graduating every year. Putting web design experiences aside, I personally think that they are more armed with the latest technologies and updated with the current trends. I’ve been doing web design for a living for almost seven years and even with a hundred websites in my portfolio, the chances of getting selected is slim especially when the new designers are charging a lot less. But that’s an entirely different story. I believe that in order to survive, aside from experience and skills, a designer should be visible. This is why that as much as possible, I make sure that I’m subscribed to every web developer forum, community and group. Which brings me to my latest discovery - Spock.com.

Spock is a new people search application unlike any other. It organizes web content from biography pages, social networks, news, blogs, directories, and websites into easily understood search results. As a Spock user, your search results are personalized to include information about friends and colleagues. You can also easily add or edit any information that Spock finds about you so people can find your most updated information.

Now this exposure is something every web designers need especially if they who want to put themselves and their portfolios out there. A quick search using the tag web design can produce significant results.

Spock search results can be filtered simply by entering a location, age bracket, and sex or if you prefer results with pictures, then you can check that option as well. If you have the name of email address of the designer that you’re looking for, Spock can help you learn more about that person. Clicking on a profile or search result will display detailed information such as contact info, tags, photos, related people, news, websites and other social networks that he’s connected to. I particularly like the tags area because it makes searching so much easier. As a web designer, you can put as many tags as you like using your skills and expertise to make your profile stand out more.
