No, this was not discussed on last night’s EB haha. The most popular topic, “how many times” from the newlyweds yahoogroup was brought up though and we spent an hour (or more) talking about it.

Anyway, back to the title. I love chic lits because they are so light and fun and I always end up feeling like I’m reading a story about a woman I know. So when I saw Good in Bed, by Jennifer Weiner while trying to find a credit card bill on our bookshelf, I got really excited. I remember having fun reading it, but for the life of me, I can’t remember what it was about until I read the summary at the back. So you could say it’s a bit forgettable but that won’t stop me from re-reading it again tonight.

Here’s a customer’s review from Amazon.com:

Twenty-eight year old journalist, Cannie Shapiro, has recently taken a ‘break’ with her boyfriend of three years. The opening pages of the novel depict Cannie’s reaction when she finds that the ex, Bruce, has written a national magazine article (complete with intimate details) about loving Cannie, a larger woman. The article spurs on Cannie’s desire to lose weight and ultimately get Bruce back. Uncomfortable yet hilarious situation after situation (some involving Bruce) occurs, even ending in Cannie making an unexpected connection and friendship with celebrity Maxi Ryder. All of this while Cannie deals with a troubled childhood and insecurities of her body.

I find this book entertaining and well written. Although there are several places where you’d say, “that could never happen in real life” and some really sad moments, I’d still recommend it to those who want to spend their afternoons reading something light and fun.
