The Husband and I share interest on all things English especially when it comes to traveling. We’d like to experience staying in an authentic, cozy holiday cottages in Westcountry just like the one from the movie “The Holiday”. Think small but cozy cottages, dark and old school pubs, small town and friendly people, and real English beer. We also love any place that’s filled with history, even if they have to do with ghosts from the past. (Well, as long as they’re friendly at least.)

I’ve seen a lot of private country homes in Devon that I wouldn’t mind staying in. They range from owl barns converted to three bedrooms to modern apartments complete with state of the art equipments. I’d actually prefer something that’s a cross between the two. Complete amenities while maintaining the history of the place. There’s this 17th century barn with local granite stone that reminds me so much of old movies with subtitles.

Aside from Devon, there are also nice Cornwall holiday cottages that reminds me of latest depiction of Cinderella, staring Drew Barrymore. The gardens are huge and the bedrooms are just so charming complete with wooden beams below a vaulted ceiling. Just looking at the property makes me want to stroll down the garden or read a book under a big tree. Most of these properties have a view of the mountains and very close to the ocean.
