I remember when I was young and my father is giving his usual morning sermon on how I need to read the news. He said I don’t know anything that by picking the newspaper, I could arm myself with what’s going on around me, and possibly help me save my life. Yes, that’s how morbid he was. Still, I find that my eyes get all watery whenever I read anything except the cartoons. Up to now, I’m always out of the loop when it comes to political news and opinions. Talk to me about almost everything and I will light up like a Christmas tree. But insert any topics about the politics or sports and you’ll see me nodding as if agreeing but the truth is I’ve already spaced out. I’m not proud of this fact, especially the part when my clients and bosses talk to me about current events and I have no input at all. I promised myself to read more so I’m not bookmarking blogs, websites that has to do with politics and current events. I doubt if I can join heated debates anytime soon but at least, I’d be familiar with some of the names and events.
