It has been years since The Husband and I spent a long time outside the house without Sandy. Now that she sleeps so well without us (her yaya texted us that she was asleep by 9:30PM), we can now go anywhere we want without checking the time. And that’s what we did last Saturday at Sheila’s “25th” birthday bash. To say that we had fun was an understatement. What could be better than good food, adult conversation and overflowing booze? Themed party, of course!

The birthday girl came up with the themes “Wiggle it, Just a little bit” (hair piece, false hair, toupee, peluca) and “Punks NOT DEAD” (funk, hippy, emo, gothic) but later on changed it to “Astoundingly Chaotic”. As for the food, it was a grand potluck and yes, we (well, Sherwin did) all cooked. Ours was under the “culinary intoxication” category, a Seafood pasta with white wine. Other food category were: mom’s secret recipe, stuff it (all stuffed dishes), fire and ice (spicy hot and cold). Grace (a new friend, yay!) was so nice to let us use their place. Ambiance was nice, music was great and food was amazing!

The party started at 9PM (oh yes, the night just started) and we had the usual photo shoot, red carpet style.

While waiting for others, we decided to have charades. I thought I was competitive already but I guess I haven’t met Grace and Ben. The Husband was the one who came up with the cards and since the teams consisted of Men VS. Women, there were lots of bad-mouthing involved. Most of the guys couldn’t understand our tagalog slang (kanto words) such as “Luto!” and “saksak mo sa baga mo!” so the following phrases were born “Cooking, cooking!” and “Stab it in your lungs!”.

The ladies won the game, if I remember correctly haha. Not that we’d have it any other way, you know. While the boys were chatting with each other, the ladies had another photo shoot down the hall. Thanks to Z for taking our photos and for being patient with us!

Xuxa, the girl with the striped stockings is only 12 years old but she is soooo natural at modeling. She is the birthday girl’s (left photo – pocahontas/hippy costume) daughter by the way so there’s really no surprise at how comfortable she is in front of the camera. Her mother is such a camwh___ just like the rest of us!

We had dinner after that and while the guys were having fun just hanging out and talking about all kinds of things, the women were already planning on what the next game should be. Ben came up with the Movie Soundtrack Quiz wherein he will play various musical scores from famous movies and each team will write down the answer on a sheet of paper. The girls took advantage of their gossiping skills here – eavesdropping and lip reading so we can copy the answer of the other team. We lost the first round, which wasn’t really fair at all (although I can’t remember the reason) so we had a re-match.

More photos and all kinds of booze later (rum coke, tequila, san mig, baileys) …. we played taboo. The usual fun and easy game became complicated because it was already 2AM and we were tired, drunk or sleepy. The birthday girl had a hard time stringing words together which made the game even more hilarious. We should drink more next time as an added twist to the game.

We went home around 4AM and was never been so glad that Sandy can sleep on her own. She woke up at 10AM giving us about 5 hours of uninterrupted sleep and the rest of the weekend was spent on the bed most of the time, thank God. Although it took me almost two days to recuperate and finally get the strength to work, it’s all worth it. Meeting new friends is also a huge bonus.

Happy Birthday again She and may you have many more fabulous years to come!
