I don’t want to jinx it but for the last two years since I bought my Dell Studio 17, I still haven’t experienced any problems with it. I have yet to re-format it or replace a battery. I wanted to get an extended laptop warranty when I purchased it but my funds were desperately low at the time. I had to choose between the extended warranty or the memory upgrade so of course, I chose the memory. Because of this, I need to make a huge note in front of my computer when my warranty will expire. I don’t want a repeat performance of two years ago when my battery died on my other laptop and I didn’t report it immediately. I would’ve gotten a free battery if only I reported it a few days earlier but as always, I was too lazy to call the support hotline. The batt replacement cost me more than $200 so you could say that I learned my lesson the hard way.
