Summer may be here, but that doesn’t give one permission to wear flip-flops to the office. Aztec jewelry and a white sundress can look smashing on the beach, but when it comes time to work most offices prefer traditional attire. Here are a few fashion no-no’s to avoid in the office this summer.
Platform Shoes
They are all the rage on the runways. You can even see some with straps that snake up the legs and end in a bow. They’re provocative and sexy and just the reason they should stay out of the office. When you are working in a professional environment your shoes shouldn’t stand out as fashion accessories too much.
Large Hats
Hats are okay for the beach or a party, but they fail to charm in an indoor setting. Keep your hats away from the office and settle for a pair of cool shades you can grab and put on when you’re ready to leave the office.
Trashy Jewelry
Jewelry that is large or looks ghetto should be avoided in the office. You don’t want to end up in a meeting and have your rings or a bracelet clanking against the conference table as the president of your company tries to give a presentation. Large jewelry not only draws attention, but it can be noisy and perceived as low class. To keep a professional appearance, keep the jewelry subtle and elegant.
Long Nails
This is an easy one to overlook, but it can be fatal to your manicure if you do. Long nails are beautiful fashion statements and work well with numerous looks, but they tend to break when you type with them and draw attention to your hands instead of your face. If you want a manicure, a French one or short one works better at the office.
