Having a Baby – Two Months Now

Sleepless nights
Not getting anything done work-wise
Personal bath time ranging from 3-5 minutes if I’m lucky
No adult conversation for weeks
Goodbye window shopping
Cracked / painful feeding

Yet it’s all worth it just by seeing this face. And now that she coos and giggles, who cares if I don’t get anything done at all? Well, I still do, but it’s so easy to forget whenever she flashes her toothless grins at me.

Something Borrowed the Movie

After re-reading Something Borrowed and Something Blue, I changed my preference and loved the story of Darcy and Ethan more. Still, I am so infatuated with Dexter (SB) that I can’t stop browsing for movie set photos. Kate Hudson won’t be my first choice as Darcy but she’s good at playing bitchy so I know she’ll do a great job portraying the Golden girl.

Safety at Work

I saw one of the butchers from the grocery store today and he wasn’t wearing any safety gloves. The only thing protecting him was a pair of plastic gloves which was designed to keep the meat clean, not for protection. I was cringing while watching him slice the baby back ribs that we ordered. In the US, if you lose a hand, you’d be good for life. The company will pay you enough that you can retire and never have to work again. I doubt if something like that is applicable here so I pity the man’s family if something happens to him. We really need to have stricter laws for industries that deal with machineries. Either give them the best injury severance package or have top-quality safety gears and tools to protect the employees.

My nephew wanted a complete baseball outfit for his birthday. He won’t stop nagging his favorite auntie (me!) about it but I learned that my cousin have already bought him one. So not to be outdone, I decided to get him one of these personalized baseball bats. We could have his name added to the bat just like the one on the picture. According to the site, you can also add a logo or any picture that you like. I can already see the surprise and how excited he’s going to be. And best of all, it’s only $13.99. Way cheaper than getting a whole baseball ensemble.

Here’s a most recent photo of me and my two babies – Sandy and Meg. They are just the most adorable girls I’ve ever seen. (Love your own) I can’t believe I already have two when ten years ago, I swore I didn’t want to have kids. Sometimes they look exactly the same but in this photo, Meg’s eyes are different from her Ate Sandy. She has her own personality as early as one month too. I know I complain a lot about sleep deprivation and how hard it is to have two kids especially when they’re sick but honestly, I wouldn’t change a thing about my life right now. I’m in love with my girls and couldn’t ask for more. Ask me again next week though and I might add a dream house, a bigger car and a huge trust fund for both of them.

I know parents can get too paranoid but I don’t blame them at all. If you watch the news lately, all you see are victims of kidnappings or child abuse, children getting lost and all other kinds of crimes that can turn a sane parent into a cold-blooded murderer. This is why child safety products are getting very popular like the GPS baby tracking device/child locator, swimming pool alarm, nanny cams and computer spy kits. Personally, I am interested to get a spy cam because I have so many meetings outside the house and I want to make sure that my nanny is doing her best to take care of my kids. I’m not saying she’ll hurt them or let something bad happen but sometimes, they can’t help but get distracted with cell phones and soap operas that they forget to do their jobs.

The Weighing Game

I have no need for apidexin when I am losing a pound a week. If I’m lucky, I’d be back to my pre-pregnancy weight by December. I have breastfeeding to thank for, I guess. I’m also refraining from eating anything dairy because we suspect that Meg’s tummy aches have something to do with them. That means no ice cream, cake, pastries, mayo, eggs, cheese, butter and milk. So it’s really no surprise if I lose weight faster than others. I feel a bit deprived but if it will make Meg healthy, then I’m all for it.

On a very shallow note, let’s hope I’d be as hot as Jessica Alba by the time Meg reaches her 6th month.

Everyone knows that diamonds are a girl’s best friend. So don’t be surprised if your wife or girlfriend’s wish list this Christmas consist of diamonds – whether it’s a pair of stud earrings, a tennis bracelet or a solitaire pendant. Seriously, this is a great investment and heirloom especially if you’re like me who has two daughters. I’m Happy to Note

… that I lost a total of 28 lbs after giving birth. I’m now down to 136lbs without any effort at all. I’m sure the sleepless nights and the fact that I don’t have any appetite at all helped a lot. My post-pregnancy tummy is starting to look normal too, much to my delight! I so want to try my old outfits but afraid they might not fit me yet. My walking shorts are still a little tight but if I lose a pound or so every week, I have no doubt I’d be back into my old weight by the time Meg reaches her 6th month. 20lbs is still 20lbs so I need to stay positive and perhaps, start hitting the treadmill as soon as I can leave Meg for more than 30 minutes.

But to be honest, I’d be happy to be a little overweight if only we can all have at least three or four nights of decent sleep a week.

Social Call

A friend was raving about her roadside assistance club when I talked to her on Skype. Yet nothing registered to me as I was busy breastfeeding little Meg, emailing a client with one hand and trying my best not to spill coffee on my laptop and on the baby. I know half listening makes me a bad friend but what can I do. I’m just unbelievably swamped with things to do both online and offline. Now, if she’ll only talk about something interesting (to me, at least), like shopping or interior decorating, then I could’ve paid more attention. Now that I have a newborn to take care of, I’m thinking how long before my friends will cease on calling or inviting me to parties that start at 10PM. I guess my social life will resume when Meg is one year old, just like with her ate Sandy.
